Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The Health Office of Rejang Lebong District, Bengkulu Province, confirmed that 21,772 local residents had received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Head of the Rejang Lebong Health Office Syamsir pointed out that mass COVID-19 vaccinations targeting all people over 12 years of age in the region were not only conducted in 21 public health centers spread across 15 sub-districts but also at Curup Hospital, National Defense Force Hospital (RSDKT), and Medika Bhayangkara Clinic. He delivered the statement in Rejang Lebong on Friday, Sept 10.

"Currently, the number of Rejang Lebong District's residents, who have been given doses of the first and second vaccine has reached 21,772 people, or 10 percent of the target. Residents that received this complete vaccination comprised health workers, public officials, the elderly, vulnerable, and general communities, as well as teenagers," he elaborated.

Syamsir remarked that vaccination in Rejang Lebong District targeted 217,861 people, out of which 35,251 had received the first vaccination dose, while the second dose was offered to 21,772 people, and 548 health workers had received the third dose of the vaccine.

To date, 3,420 residents had contracted COVID-19 ever since the first case emerged in June 2020. Of the figure, 3,322 patients recovered, 68 patients died, and 30 patients are still being monitored.

Some 11,041 swab test samples examined in the laboratory showed that 3,420 samples tested positive for the virus, while a negative result was received for 7,621 samples.

From the examination and testing of samples, the COVID-19 positivity rate gradually declined, such as on Aug 10-23. Of the 4,663 samples, some 299 had tested positive.

During the period from August 24 to September 6, some 71 samples had tested positive, and the testing period from Sept 7 to Sept 10 yielded a total of 11 positive cases.
