The company is expecting to save Rp4 billion per year in electricity bills through the move, Pertamina’s chief executive officer for new renewable energy, Dannif Danusaputro, said in a written statement released on Tuesday.
"The installation of PLTS at five thousand gas stations is expected to lower carbon dioxide emissions by up to 34 thousand tons per year," he added.
The energy transition that is taking place at the company is based on the concept of green energy stations for providing integrated and environmentally friendly services, he said.
The PLTS uses an on-grid system which is integrated with the power supply network, which functions as a solar energy storage, he explained.

Based on the results of a research conducted by Bloomberg NEF from 2010 to 2020, the cost of installation of PLTS has fallen drastically by up to 90 percent, he observed.
The decline in the installation cost of PLTS aligns with the rapidly growing technology and rising economic activities which have made it more competitive than constructing a fossil fuel-based power plant, he added.
“HSSE Golden Rules has become the culture at Pertamina, where security and safety aspects will not be separable from our operational activities so customers do not need to worry,” he remarked.
