We have initiated the import substitution program and encouraged export of tobacco productsJakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry has proposed the imposition of warehouse receipt system (WRS) to spur local tobacco absorption in the tobacco industry.
The system is expected to effectively monitor stock of raw material in the warehouse and maintain the commodity's price stability.
"We have initiated the import substitution program and encouraged export of tobacco products. This will bring positive impact to the national economy," acting Director General of Agro Industry of the ministry, Putu Juli Ardika said in a statement here on Sunday.
The move, he continued, would accelerate the government's priority program of the National Economic Recovery (PEN).
"The government could not work alone, we need to work closely with various parties including industry players," Ardika said.
Supports from industry sector, including the tobacco industry, would help the government to revive the national economy.
Meanwhile Temanggung District Head HM Al Khadziq lauded the ministry's quick response on concern over tobacco absorption in Temanggung.
