Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed COVID-19 mass vaccinations for students in several schools in Banten, Tuesday.

The president directly reviewed vaccinations at state high school SMA Negeri 4 Serang and held a virtual dialog with several other high schools and vocational schools in Banten that also conducted mass vaccinations.

"Today, I am pleased to be able to see and review mass vaccinations, especially for students in Banten Province. Along with me are also the House Speaker, Mrs. Puan Maharani, Minister of State Secretary, Governor of Banten, and Mayor of Serang," the head of state noted in his remarks aired on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.

The president then held a dialog with a representative of state high school SMA Negeri 1 Ciomas, Serang, Banten.

Headmaster of SMA Negeri 1 Ciomas Aan Hernawan updated the president that his side had administered vaccinations to 307 students on that occasion.

"For today, we are vaccinating 307 students, Mr. President. These are the rest since we have conducted mass vaccinations twice. We have reached 80 percent," Hernawan reported to President Jokowi through videoconferencing.

The headmaster notified that his side had conducted face-to-face learning for the past fortnight by implementing strict health protocols in accordance with the government's directives.

The head of state also held a dialog with the headmaster of state vocational school SMK Negeri 1 Cilegon, Widodo. The headmaster said that his side was targeting to inoculate 1,300 students that day.

Headmaster Widodo affirmed that his side faced no difficulties in getting the vaccines owing to help from the Banten Health Office. Widodo also reported that his side had conducted face-to-face learning for the past two weeks by limiting each classroom capacity to 50 percent, with a maximum learning time of four hours per day.

President Jokowi lauded the implementation of mass vaccination for the residents and students in Banten. The head of state urged other schools to also complete vaccinations for students, so that all schools in Banten can conduct face-to-face learning safely.
