Visitors are now required to check-in using QR codes when entering those sites to control the spread of COVID-19.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned telecommunication giant PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) has said that Bali is ready to welcome tourists back with the help of the PeduliLindungi application.

Telkom Corporate Communications Vice President Pujo Pramono said the PeduliLindungi application is the right solution to reopen destinations and drive the economic wheels while controlling the transmission of COVID-19.

"It is expected that with the increasingly massive implementation of PeduliLindungi and the rising number of people who have been vaccinated, Bali can reopen and welcome tourists as usual," Pramono remarked in a written statement received here on Wednesday.

However, he asked the public to strictly comply with health protocols and government policies, especially when traveling during the pandemic.

So far, the PeduliLindungi application has been implemented in several locations in Bali, he noted.

PeduliLindungi QR codes have been installed in hotels, restaurants, tourist destinations, malls, places of worship, schools, office areas, and other public sites, he said.

"Visitors are now required to check-in using QR codes when entering those sites to control the spread of COVID-19," he said.

Telkom is committed to supporting all government efforts in tackling COVID-19 and encouraging national economic recovery, Pramono said.

"Hopefully with the spirit of gotong royong (working together), we can be stronger to deal with this pandemic well," he added.

Earlier, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir had reviewed the implementation of the PeduliLindungi application in Denpasar city, Bali.

The PeduliLindungi application is being implemented to prepare Bali and its surrounding areas, especially the tourism sector, for the beginning of the new normal era and economic recovery, he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Bali's Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) or the Bali Tourism Board, I.B. Agung Partha Adnyana, said that PeduliLindungi will be a game-changer for Bali tourism in addition to vaccines because it can create an impression of "safety" among tourists.

In Denpasar City, Erick Thohir not only reviewed the implementation of the PeduliLindungi app but also interacted with representatives of several micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
