Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has urged all state administration institutions to improve processes and present accurate information to the public.

"Public agencies must be ready to transform, improve, and innovate to be able to present information efficiently, accurately, safely, easily, and cheaply in order to support the quality of public services," the Vice President said at the commemoration of the World Right to Know Day 2021 in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The reformation and improvement in information provision for the public is a continuous and dynamic process that must be undertaken in accordance with the development of the government and the society's needs, he said.

The Vice President stressed that all ministries, non-ministerial government agencies, and local governments are required to implement public information disclosure, especially given the current development in information and digital technology.

"There is no longer any reason for public agencies to delay the implementation of public information disclosure obligations," Amin said.

The availability of technology and various application platforms could make public information quicker to access, he added. It can also help cover more community members, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, that has changed people's lifestyles, he remarked.

"In an effort to better optimize dissemination of public information, especially during the ongoing pandemic, the transformation and digitization of public information is an important key to support the disclosure of public information," the Vice President added.

Amin deemed that the disclosure of public information in all local governments would enable the realization of a commitment to good and clean governance.

"Therefore, the commitment to open public information must continue to be implemented as part of the institutional accountability of all public agencies for the people," he added.
