Serang, Banten (ANTARA) - Banten Governor Wahidin Halim and Region II supervision and coordination director of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Yudhiawan Wibisono, reviewed the construction of the Banten International Stadium in Serang City on Thursday.

The governor said that their visit aimed to ensure that the construction was running smoothly without any misappropriation in the project implementation.

Furthermore, he informed that he had reviewed the project twice. "On my first visit, the construction’s progress was still at 55 percent. Meanwhile, currently it has reached 74 percent," he said.

Halim said he expects the construction of the new international stadium will run well. Thus, the facility will be able to be used by the public soon, he added.

Meanwhile, KPK’s Wibisono revealed that his agency has carried out an inspection at the stadium construction site.

"Alhamdulillah (all praise to God) it went smoothly," he said.

Furthermore, the participation of the commission in overseeing the project is aimed at ensuring that the allocated state budget has been utilized well, thus the sports facility can benefit the community in future.

Furthermore, Wibisono said he hoped that the construction would run smoothly without any corruption.

"I expect the construction goes well and people can take advantage of the facility later," he added.

During his visit, Wibisono was accompanied by the head of the Region II task force Dwi Aprilia Astuti.

Meanwhile, the Banten Governor was accompanied by acting regional secretary of Banten province, Muhtarom, and several heads of the Regional Governmental Apparatus Organization (OPD).

The Banten International Stadium is being built in the Sport Center Area in Kemanisan village, Curug sub-district, Serang city. The construction is targeted to be completed in 2022.
