Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, has said that the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

"I appreciate the efforts that have been made by the Directorate General of Highways and Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) for accelerating the completion of the Cisumdawu toll road. Please continue the works, especially concerning land acquisition. Hopefully, there will be no major obstacle so that it can be completed by the end of this year," the minister said in a statement released here on Friday.

The Cisumdawu toll road is vital for supporting the operational effectiveness of Kertajati Airport, Patimban Port, and the economic development in Ciayu Majakuning and Rebana regions of West Java province.

The toll road's Section 1 and Section 2 will have 8 bridges, 13 overpasses, and 8 underpasses, the minister noted.

The construction of the Cileunyi interchange, which began in May 2021, as part of the Cisumdawu toll road's Section 1 is 89.10 percent complete, Hadimuljono added.

Meanwhile, head of the Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN), Wilan Oktavian, said that construction of the Cisumdawu toll road, particularly Section 1 of the road, needs to be accelerated progressively.

Hence, additional construction workers and heavy equipment such as cranes, launchers, excavators, compactors, dump trucks, and paver machines need to be deployed, he noted.

"We are optimistic that the physical work on Section 1 and Section 2 would be completed by the end of 2021," he said.

The land acquisition process for Sections 4 and 5 of the toll road project is expected to be completed in October 2021, he disclosed.

The Cisumdawu toll road project consists of 6 sections and is being built under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme at a cost of Rp5.5 trillion, Oktavian said.

Section 1 connecting Cileunyi and Rancakalong sub-districts stretches 11.45 km, while Section 2 connecting Rancakalong and Sumedang spans 17.05 km, he added.

Work on the two sections is being carried out by the central government using the viability gap fund (VGF) to increase the feasibility of the toll road investment, the official said. Currently, the overall progress of Sections 1 and 2 has reached 94.55 percent and 95.80 percent, respectively, he added.

Work on Sections 3 to 6 is being carried out by PT. Citra Karya West Java Toll Road (CKJT), Oktavian said.

Section 3 connecting the 4.05-km Sumedang-Cimalaka stretch has been completed, he informed.

Construction work on the 8.20-km Section 4 connecting Cimalaka and Legok is 6.59 percent complete, and the 14.9-km Section 5 (Legok-Ujungjaya) is 20.65 percent complete, he said.

Construction work on Section 6 (Ujung Jaya-Dawuan) has reached 63.29-percent completion, he added.
