Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry (PUPR) has said it will accelerate land acquisition for the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road and complete the project by the end of this year.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono has asked all stakeholders to work in coordination to expedite the process to meet the year-end deadline for completion of the toll road.

"Because the construction can only run smoothly after the land is available," the minister said in a statement received here on Wednesday.

The 60.10-kilometer-long toll road in West Java will be connected to the access toll road to Kertajati Airport in the province, he informed.

Construction of the 11.45-km Section 1 of the toll road connecting Cileunyi and Rancakalong is 77.42 percent complete and 98.6 percent of land needed for the section has been acquired, the minister said.

Work on the 17.05-km Section 2 of the toll road connecting Rancakalong and Sumedang has reached 91.99 percent completion and 96.11 percent of the land for this section has been acquired, he added.

The 4.05-km Section 3 connecting Sumedang and Cimalaka has been completed and is ready to become operational, he said.

Overall, the Cisumdawu toll road has been divided into six sections, which are being built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

Sections 1 and 2 of the toll road were built by the government using viability gap funds (VGF) to increase the toll road's investment feasibility, Hadimuljono said.

The remaining sections are being constructed by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT), PT. Citra Karya Jabar Tol (CKJT), which has invested 8.41 trillion Indonesian rupiahs in the project.

The Cisumdawu Toll Road, which will be connected to the BIJB Kertajati Access Toll Road later, will cut travel time from Bandung to 1 hour from 3 hours presently, the minister said.

The improved connectivity will support the operation of the Kertajati Airport, which is expected to replace Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, he added.

The Cisumdawu toll road is also expected to support the development of the Cirebon-Subang-Majalengka (Rebana) "golden triangle” as a new economic growth center, he said. (INE)
