Cirebon (ANTARA) - Construction work on the Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road extension to the West Java International Airport in Kertajati, Majalengka district has reached 60-percent completion, according to toll road operator Astra.

"The construction work progress has reached sixty percent," Astra Cipali operations director Agung Prasetyo said in a statement that ANTARA received in Cirebon, West Java, on Wednesday.

The construction of the Cipali toll road extension started in September, 2020. When completed, it would allow people to reach the airport much faster than now, Prasetyo added.

At the moment, construction workers are installing a bridge girder at KM 158, he informed, adding that the toll road extension would bring economic benefits to local residents.

The Kertajati International Airport has been operational since mid-2019. On May 24, 2018, Presidential aircraft Indonesia One became the first plane to land at the West Java airport. (INE)
