According to Jokowi, the idea to establish the program came after his meeting with several youngsters from Papua in September 2019.

The Papuan youths comprised Richard Mahose from Merauke, who graduated from Cornell University; Joshua Gombo, who studied robotics in Washington D.C.; and Pascal Safari, who studied computer science in California, as well as other Papuan youths.

The Papuan youths are expecting to have a platform to discuss their aspirations and inspirations, Jokowi noted.

The President believes that Papuan youths have several undiscovered talents to be explored. He is upbeat about the Papua Youth Creative Hub gathering ideas and sourcing talents from the vast pool of Papuan youths.
