"The theme is in accordance with goal No.13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that conveys a mandate for the global community to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts," Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong stated.
Dohong conveyed the statement during his remarks at the opening of the Indonesian Pavilion at the COP 26 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that was monitored online from Jakarta on Monday night (November 1).

On the occasion, Dohong noted that the local governments, in the past decade, had collaborated and shared responsibilities with local actors, such as academics, entrepreneurs, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in the climate change control efforts.
The deputy minister remarked that some climate change control efforts had been made so far through corporate social responsibility (CSR) and partnerships between the government and NGOs.
However, Dohong contended that joint actions for climate change mitigation and adaptation, so far, had yet to be implemented optimally on account of various factors, including weak decision-making, conflicting interests of socio-economic and environmental priorities, and inefficiency of existing policies.

"Joint action on climate change needs leaders," Dohong stated.
Hence, Indonesia urges every country to work collaboratively to save the earth, according to Dohong.
"We (Indonesia) have done what we promised, and we hope other countries do the same," he remarked.

At the COP 26 meeting in Glasgow, Dohong further affirmed that Indonesia had well received some inputs in the efforts to control climate change.
"To all participants, I am also happy to offer you inputs on what we have achieved," he stated.
Dohong expressed optimism that all activities and discussions at the Indonesian Pavilion would inspire further efforts to control climate change.
