Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, in collaboration with the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, deploy three cars to facilitate the vaccination of residents in rural and remote areas of the province.

"It is planned that the cars will start visiting the villages on November 14, 2021," the office head, Dedi Taufik, remarked when contacted telephonically here on Monday.

Taufik noted that the three vaccination cars have different routes, with one of the cars heading to Subang District, Indramayu District, as well as Cirebon District and City.

The second car will depart for the southern regions of the province, such as Garut District, Tasikmalaya District and City, as well as Pangandaran District.

Meanwhile, the last car will proceed to the regions in central West Java, comprising Sumedang District, Majalengka District, and Kuningan District.

"Vaccination coverage in West Java has reached above 50 percent. However, it is falling short since our target is 70 percent,” Taufik stated.

The office head remarked that the vaccination rate in rural areas was still low due to the access difficulties faced in the to and fro travel between the areas and the vaccination site provided by the local government.

Hence, the vaccination cars are expected to increase the number of vaccinated villagers, thereby facilitating the realization of herd immunity in the province.

“The cars will be deployed for 10 days until November 24, 2021,” the office head remarked.

West Java has yet to achieve its daily COVID-19 vaccination target set at 600 thousand doses, as currently it only reaches 345,247 doses per day.

Daily Head of the West Java COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Dewi Sartika, emphasized that the daily vaccination target had to be pursued to create herd immunity by the end of 2021.
