To this end, the ministry is very supportive and will apply the regulation to all Islamic and non-Islamic universities.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - All State Religious Universities (PTKN) rectors voiced their support for Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministerial Regulation No. 30 of 2021 on Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling, Religious Affairs Ministry's Secretary General Nizar Ali stated.

"There is nobody (who rejects) it in the Religious Affairs Ministry. Everybody agrees. Is there anyone (who rejects)? None. Full 100 percent support (for the regulation)," he noted in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Thursday.

According to Ali, the ministry has issued circular letters regarding the support to all university officials, and it will be applied to all PTKN as a form of protection for women against sexual violence.

"To this end, the ministry is very supportive and will apply the regulation to all Islamic and non-Islamic universities," he expounded.

When it comes to the follow-up and the implementation of the letter, he let each rector decide as they have a task force, and they will be the one responsible for it.

"If there is any academic official who was harassed, then the rectors will make their move," he affirmed.

Earlier, the secretary general explained that the sexual violence regulation should be understood comprehensively and is inseparable from its context.

The regulation offers room for sexual violence victims, so that they are willing to speak up, and it could also accommodate the victims' rights.

The regulation is prepared to prevent and handle cases of sexual violence. Hence, it is not done to "legalize adultery" within the education environment.

The ministerial regulation contains 58 articles comprising several obligations for colleges to prevent sexual violence.

This prevention is done through learning, strengthening governance, and enriching the culture of the student community, educators, and education personnel.
