NIK integration with NPWP will be implemented in 2023 because next year, we will prepare the information technology.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The integration of Indonesian citizens' identity card numbers (NIK) with taxpayer identification numbers (NPWP) will begin in 2023, citizenship and social security director at the National Development Ministry/Bappenas, Muhammad Cholifihani, said during a public discussion here on Monday.

"NIK integration with NPWP will be implemented in 2023 because next year, we will prepare the information technology," he noted.

Through the Taxation Regulation Harmonization Law (UU HPP) or Law No. 7 of 2021, the government will integrate NIK with NPWP, he said.

However, citizens with NIK will not have to pay income tax because the tax obligation will only apply to citizens with an income of Rp60 million per year, he informed.

In addition, the government is continuing to make quality citizenship data, that is data that is accurate, relevant, on time, accessible, and can be shared and utilized, Cholifihani said.

At the moment, the government is also in the process of making unified citizenship data that is advanced and integrated, he informed.

This data is expected to be made available for policy planning, policy evaluation, development, and governance refinement, he said.

"With this data, we can estimate how many Indonesians there will be in 2045 or 2050," he explained.

"Then, we can intervene, formulate, and prioritize policies in the population sector to achieve targets such as the ones within SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in 2030," he added.

With the President Regulation No. 62 of 2019 on Citizenship Administration Acceleration National Strategy for Biological Statistics Development, citizens' data collection is expected to be expedited for the development of biological statistics, he noted.

This is being done to record the human life cycle from birth to death, he said.

This data can be recorded if there is cooperation between ministries and institutions in carrying out civil recording and citizens registration acceleration, conducting citizen registration and civil recording service approach at the village level, and connecting biological statistics information systems, Cholifihani added.
