We will see it laterJakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is planning to launch a second tax amnesty scheme after the first such policy was introduced between July 2016 and December 2017, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated. "There is nothing impossible in this world, everything is possible. We will see it later," Sri Mulyani said in Jakarta Friday.
There was a plan to study the tax reform package that would be submitted to President Joko Widodo shortly.
"We are considering the plan. We will see the situation," he remarked.
The idea for launching volume II of the scheme came from Sri Mulyani, who received numerous requests from entrepreneurs who regretted not having used the first one in 2016.
"They ask the government to re-issue the tax amnesty. Now, I am considering their request," the minister said.
They had to be well prepared, as the participation in the first tax amnesty program was quite low, with just about one million taxpayers (WP) availing the scheme.
Also, the government was not prepared in the first program, as there was incomplete data, lack of information exchange and other issues, she noted.
"In the past, I did not know the exact data of taxpayers. Now, there is an Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI)," she said.
Through an open system and information exchange in collaboration with around 90 countries, the government can now easily track assets owned by taxpayers.
The second tax amnesty was intended to improve development in Indonesia.
"The tax is used to develop infrastructure, economy, and others," Sri Mulyani remarked.
If Indonesia can develop these aspects, it will attract a lot of investors.
"If everything is good, employers will see our economic growth," Sri Mulyani said.
