Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry will launch the Borobudur Public Service Agency (BLU) that amalgamates the concepts of conservation and tourism.

"This BLU will combine the concepts of conservation as a cultural heritage as well as the education side in addition to the tourism and creative economy aspects," Deputy Minister of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Angela Tanoesoedibjo stated during a press release here on Wednesday.

The deputy minister attended the launch of the Public Service Agency (BLU) Expo 2021 at the Jakarta Senayan Sports Palace on Tuesday, November 16. The expo was held on November 16-18, 2021, based on the theme "BLU with a Strategy to Restore the Economy."

Tanoesoedibjo explained that the BLU was created to reaffirm the government's commitment to pushing for Indonesia's economic recovery during the period of adapting to new habits.

Based on Law Number 1 of 2004 on the Treasury, the state has facilitated government agencies that provide services to the public as means to implement a flexible financial pattern.

This is applied by emphasizing productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness as the work pillars of the Public Service Agency.

Out of the total 252 BLUs, some 107 offer services in the health sector, 106 BLUs in the education sector, 10 BLUs for fund management, five BLUs in area management services, and 23 BLUs as providers of other goods and services.

A total of five BLU area managers have developed economic zones by promoting ease-of-doing business and managing tourism areas in addition to providing special services while optimizing state assets and supporting infrastructure.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati pointed out that BLU was a pioneer in public service reform by building modern government agencies, with keen customer- and outcome-centric nuances.

"BLU is an agent of development, with the purpose of fulfilling basic needs and supporting general welfare, as well as educating the nation through services in the sectors (such as) health, education, fund management, asset management, and other areas," she remarked.
