The Palace Protocol has confirmed that Insya Allah (by God’s will), the President will deliver his speech at this anniversary online from the Presidential Palace
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will attend the virtual commemoration of the 109th anniversary of the Muhammadiyah on Thursday and deliver a speech at the event, Chairperson of the anniversary's organizing committee, M Nurul Yamin, has confirmed.

“The Palace Protocol has confirmed that Insya Allah (by God’s will), the President will deliver his speech at this anniversary online from the Presidential Palace,” Yamin said in a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Themed 'Be Optimistic in Tackling the COVID-19 Pandemic: Spreading Key Values', the anniversary event will include a speech by the Muhammdiyah chairman and the 2021 Muhammadiyah Awards, he informed.

In addition, there will also be an inscription signing of the Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), Universitas Siber Muhammadiyah (Sibermu), Muhammadiyah Australia College, and Dasron Hamid Research and Innovation Center building as well as an award presentation to the COVID-19 fighter association, he said.

“The awards are for the COVID-19 fighters that have contributed to helping the community during the pandemic,” he highlighted.

Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah Chairman Haedar Nashir called on the public to maintain the spirit of optimism and togetherness, bolster togetherness values, and avoid destructive values, especially during COVID-19 recovery.

“Since the beginning, Muhammadiyah has been committed to striving with all capabilities, fund sources, resources, and systems that we mobilize to be a part of solution makers as well as to raise optimism in tackling this challenging pandemic,” Nashir expounded.

He appealed to people to stay disciplined in following the health protocols and maintain unity, saying any serious problems can be resolved more easily if the Indonesian people are together and united.

The pandemic has hit nations hard in terms of health, economy, society, and psychology, according to the chairman. Therefore, all parties and their mutual programs are important during pandemic recovery, he said.

“Do not let us, the Indonesian nation, be busy with unproductive things that hinder our progress. Advancement is a necessity for modern nations. It is also a progressive ideology to bring this nation to be a top-notch one,” he remarked.
