Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has delivered logistics aid contingency funds for cities and districts in Central Kalimantan province affected by flooding.

"The aid is intended to assist authorities in expediting the disaster mitigation effort in cities and districts affected by the flood disaster," Abdul Muhari, BNPB spokesman said in a statement here on Sunda.

The contingency fund amounting Rp1.5 billion (around US$105 thousand), was distributed to Palangkaraya City, Pulang Pisau and Katingan Districts, with each receiving Rp500 million (around US$35 thousand), he revealed.

Besides the contingency fund, the BNPB also distributed logistics aid that included food supply, mattresses, blankets, and face masks for flood victims in the provincial government, Palangkaraya City, and Pulang Pisau, Katingan, and Kapuas Districts, Muhari informed.

Each region received 200 sheets of blankets, 300 sheets of mattresses, 501 side dish packages, 504 instant food packages, and 5,000 pieces of KF-94 masks, he added.

The aid was handed over by Head of BNPB Suharyanto to regional authorities' representatives in a ceremony that took place at the main hall of the Central Kalimantan Governor Office in Palangkaraya on Saturday (Nov 20).

The ceremony took place during the BNPB head working visit to Central Kalimantan after earlier visiting West Kalimantan. He said that his visit to Central Kalimantan was to ensure that the flood disaster mitigation effort in the province was carried out properly and basic needs of affected residents were fulfilled.
