"We have issued an appeal to all stakeholders to take precautionary measures against flooding, especially in the riverbank areas," class I weather forecaster at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency Sultan Baabullah Ternate, Satria Kridha Nugraha, stated in Ternate on Tuesday.
According to Nugraha, the early warning issued regarding North Maluku's weather stated that the region might experience moderate to heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
The agency has issued a warning on Tuesday, December 14, for the weather conditions in the afternoon and evening, especially in the areas of Central Halmahera District, North Patani, East Patani, East Halmahera District Maba, South Maba, Central Maba, Maba City, and its surroundings so that it covers West Halmahera District, Jailolo, Ibu, Sahu, South Jailolo, South Ibu, East Sahu, Central Halmahera District, Gebe Island, North Weda, Central Weda, West Patani, and East Weda.
Moreover, a weather warning was issued in North Halmahera District, North Loloda, North Galela, Loloda Islands, Kao Teluk, South Halmahera Bacan Selatan District, and then East Halmahera District including Wasile, South Wasile, Central Wasile, North Wasile, East Wasile, North Maba, South West Morotai Island District, Tidore City North Oba Islands, and the surrounding areas.

On the other hand, the forecast indicated that the weather would be generally cloudy, with the likelihood of light rains in Morotai, Ternate, Tidore, Sofifi, and the adjoining areas. It will also be largely overcast, with the likelihood of moderate to heavy rains in Patani, Morotai, Jailolo, Tobelo, Galela, Ibu, Ternate, Kao, and its surrounding areas.
Nugraha's administration also issued an early weather warning of the risk of moderate to heavy rains, with a likelihood of lightning and strong winds during the day and night in the Patani, Morotai, Jailolo, Tobelo, Galela, Ibu, Ternate, Kao areas.
Early warning of waves include risk of significantly high waves of over two meters in height in the Morotai waters, Halmahera Sea, Loloda waters, North West Halmahera waters, Ternate-Batangdua-Bitung waters, East Halmahera waters, and Gebe waters, with waves reaching up to three meters high.

The weather conditions in Ternate City and various other areas for Tuesday are generally cloudy, and some areas have received moderate-intensity rains.
Mayor of Ternate, Muhammad Tauhid Soleman, stated that in dealing with this natural phenomenon, his administration aimed to ensure the safety of residents on the coast since bad weather was expected to continue in Ternate City for the next few days. Soleman noted that his side will coordinate with the local Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency regarding weather-related developments.
The Ternate city government is currently handling victims of the tidal wave by providing a shelter following the disaster alert status declared due to the extreme weather and tidal waves on December 6-19, 2021.
The number of refugees at the camps has increased, from 701 to 708 people, as they are apprehensive and traumatized when a tidal wave hit their homes and destroyed their settlements since December 4, 2021.
