Access to electricity for the poor residents can offer them an opportunity to improve their standards of living, so they can help move the national economy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Access to electricity for the poor can help improve their standards of living, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir stated.

The ministry will continue to increase the electrification ration through PLN Cares, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of the state electricity firm PT PLN, he added.

"Access to electricity for the poor residents can offer them an opportunity to improve their standards of living, so they can help drive the national economy," Thohir noted on his official Twitter account @erickthohir on Friday.

The minister spoke of his intent to be always present for the nation to improve the government’s performance and public services.

"The SOEs Ministry has urged PLN to transform and innovate. I am optimistic that our electricity industry and activity could contribute more in advancing as well as meeting the needs of the state and Indonesian citizens," he noted.

PLN is a state-owned electricity provider currently expediting electrical infrastructure to enable equitable distribution of electricity across the nation.

The electrified village ratio should be boosted in a bid to integrate the village and national economy.

PLN’s management and human resource director Yusuf Didi Setiarto stated that a total of 44,057 micro and small enterprises (MSEs) have become the enterprise’s fostered partners.

The state-owned company will continue to implement the PLN Cares Program in line with the sustainable development goals and ISO 26000.
