SOEs are part of Indonesian citizens that contribute to the nation's development without limit.Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-run construction and investment company PT PP (Persero) Tbk, along with several State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), extended social aid in the education sector in the form of university scholarship for children of military and police officers.
The education scholarship was offered in Yogyakarta as a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
"SOEs are part of Indonesian citizens that contribute to the nation's development without limit," PT PP's (Persero) Secretary Yuyus Jursa said in a statement here on Tuesday.
Under the scope of the CSR activity, PT PP, along with three other SOEs, provided educational aid to 129 children of military and police officers wherein the companies distributed aid for 37 high-achieving children.
Moreover, the SOEs continued to provide social aid in the form of curriculum book packages for teachers and students.

Through this opportunity, SOEs provided 2013 curriculum lesson book packages for elementary, middle, and high schools that require them in Banten, Tasikmalaya in West Java, Trenggalek in East Java, and Kapuas in Central Kalimantan.
The aid distribution was conducted in 10 schools located in the outermost, remote, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.
In addition, SOEs have striven to bolster interest in reading through the Digital Library aid.
This aims to support the quality education target stipulated within the Ministry of SOEs' CSR program that refers to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under which one of the programs is Quality Education.

The Digital Library aid was offered to Al Marhamah Foundation in East Tarakan and Wisaya Reading Center in Nunukan, North Kalimantan.
Digital Library is a digital device that contains various e-books, audiobooks, and videos concerning Wonderful Indonesia packaged in a special platform.
To further bolster the quality of education, SOEs also distributed social aid in the form of facilities and infrastructures for Haji Beddurahim Madrasah Tsanawiyah, an Islamic middle school, in Nunukan, North Kalimantan.
The social aid distributed by the SOEs to the education sector recently was pegged at Rp555 million.
