Do not allow the industry to become the public's enemy.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has called on the young generation to help boost the added value and benefits of the mining industry’s products.

“I expect Indonesia's young generation to play its important role more optimally in helping manage the mining industry,” Mineral and Coal Director General Ridwan Djamaluddin at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said during the “Minerba Goes to Campus” event televised here on Tuesday.

Students can contribute to the mining industry in several ways by learning about good governance in the mining sector since they will replace the human resources working in the industry currently, he emphasized.

They can also help boost mining downstreaming and increase its added value as stipulated in the law, he added.

“Simply, the young generation should be more advanced, not only to explore and sell but also to process the products, thereby boosting their added values,” he stressed.

The young generation must also be heedful of public support, working safety, environmental cleanliness, and urban development to build a good ecosystem for living, he added.

“Do not allow the industry to become the public's enemy,” he stated.

The ministry recorded non-tax state revenues (PNBP) in the mineral and coal sub-sectors to have reached Rp49.67 trillion as of October 2021, or 127 percent higher, from Rp39.1 trillion of the target in 2021, with coal as its main contributor during the year.
