The outcome of this coordination meeting is to create policies that are right on target, beneficial, and on time
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry met with success in its efforts to revive the tourism and creative economy sector in 2021, as evidenced by increasing tourist arrivals in Bali, Minister Sandiaga Uno has said.

"This shows that all tourism and creative economy stakeholders are able to adapt, innovate, and collaborate amid the COVID-19 pandemic (situation), which is now also getting better," Uno remarked while opening the Technical Evaluation Coordination Meeting of the ministry on Tuesday, according to a press release issued on the same day.

In addition, the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certification for the tourism and creative industry has also continued to expand, with more than 6,700 certificates issued this year, bringing the total number of certificates issued since 2020 to more than 11 thousand, he noted.

In 2021, the ministry faced many challenges starting from drafting, designing, formulating, implementing, and executing policies, Uno said.

"The outcome of this coordination meeting is to create policies that are right on target, beneficial, and on time," Uno said.

One policy is for creating a development strategy for tourism destinations, focusing on improving their quality and reputation by extending extraordinary product benefits with local ingredients that are of high value so they can compete with other products, inclusive, and sustainable to create an integrated tourism ecosystem, he informed.

The ministry is also seeking to encourage regions to improve community welfare by paying attention to natural, cultural, and human resources to present qualified, resilient, and sustainable tourism destinations, he added.
