"The cyclonic circulation pattern has formed in the Timor-Arafura Sea and is indicated as a suspected tropical cyclone seed area," Abadi noted when contacted in Kupang on Thursday.
The station head noted that the cyclonic circulation was related to the likelihood of extreme weather in the East Nusa Tenggara region on December 22-26, 2021.
Abadi explained that the indicated suspected area was moving slowly towards the southwest and then to the south or in the northern Australian waters.
Such conditions have an impact on the growth of rain clouds in NTT, so people need to increase their awareness of the effects of extreme weather events, such as heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
Based on weather prediction modeling, the likelihood of tropical cyclones is quite high in the next few days, especially on Saturday and Sunday.

Torrential rains accompanied by strong winds can likely occur in 22 districts across the province, so Abadi appealed to the public to not panic and increase awareness of the likelihood of extreme weather.
The extreme weather can cause hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, flash floods, landslides, fallen trees, and lightning.
Abadi urged people in NTT to continue to update information and early warnings for extreme weather through the 24-hour weather information service of the El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station by calling on contact number (0380) 881613, messaging on WhatsApp number 081139404264, or accessing the IOS and android application BMKG Info.
