This is done to ensure a healthy and safe campus
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry urged universities to form a Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling (PPKS) Task Force in campuses in order to implement the new sexual violence prevention and handling regulation.

"A PPKS Task Force should be formed in every campus across the nation next year at the latest," the ministry's official Nizam affirmed here on Monday.

"This not only applies to public universities but also private universities. This aims to ensure a healthy and safe campus," he affirmed.

Private universities that encounter difficulties in forming Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force could cooperate with other universities or coordinate with the Higher Education Institutions (LLDIKTI), he noted.

The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministerial Regulation No. 30 of 2021 on Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling in Universities Environment was issued on August 31, 2021, to handle sexual violence in campuses.

The regulation containing 58 articles stipulates that universities are obligated to make an effort to prevent sexual violence through learning; strengthen management; and bolster the culture of students, educators, and workers' community.

In addition, universities should formulate policies to support sexual violence prevention and handling efforts, form a task force, design sexual violence prevention and handling guidelines, and limit interaction between students and educators and/or workers outside the campus' operational hours and/or area.

Universities should also provide a sexual violence report service and train students, educators, education workers, and campus residents to conduct sexual violence prevention and handling efforts.

Moreover, emphasis is laid on periodic dissemination of sexual violence prevention and handling guidelines to students, educators, education workers, and campus residents as well as on broadcasting information on the sexual violence report service.
