Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry's Directorate General of Land Transportation distributed health protocol kits at eight transportation hubs in Jakarta, Banten, and other regions in Java Island.

Director General Budi Setiyadi, in a press statement quoted on Thursday, stated that residents must continue to observe health protocols despite an improvement in the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia.

"We are all still living in a COVID-19 pandemic situation despite the condition improving. Our Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi, has also reminded us to not become complacent regarding the pandemic, and that we must continue to promote health protocols among the residents," Setiyadi stated.

The directorate general cooperated with a private company for providing the health protocol kit packages comprising a hand sanitiser, aromatherapy oil, mosquito repellent lotion, and vitamin supplement to travellers during the Christmas and New Year's holiday period, he noted.

The health protocol kit was distributed at the Senen and Gambir train stations as well as the Kampung Rambutan and Pulogadung terminals, all in Jakarta, and Merak Port in Banten, the director general revealed.

Meanwhile, a representative of fast-moving consumer goods company Enesis Group -- that collaborated with the directorate general in the health protocol kit distribution programme -- stated that the company is keen to partake in efforts to improve the residents' health and safety while travelling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"For this year, we collaborate with the Ministry of Transportation after we collaborated with other institutions for this program last year. Through this program, we are also striving to protect the health of Indonesians," head of the public relations department of Enesis Group Elkana Lewerisa noted.

Lewerisa expressed optimism that the health protocol kit would be helpful for travellers in maintaining their health during their journey.

Apart from locations in Jakarta and Banten, the directorate general and the company also distributed health protocol kits at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java, and a rest area in Cikampek-Palimanan toll road and Balong Gandu weighbridge in Karawang, West Java, the company's representative added.
