Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin held a meeting with the Central Sulawesi provincial government as well as several district and city governments to discuss efforts to drive economic recovery in the region.

The vice president arrived at the Central Sulawesi Governor's Office on Friday at 9:20 a.m. Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA) in the company of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki and Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Mastura.

In addition to economic recovery, the meeting's agenda included disseminating information on public service mall as well as the micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) empowerment program.

After the meeting, the vice president and several related officials were scheduled to visit the exhibition stands on the first floor of the office.

Furthermore, he will conduct Friday prayer at the Al Mujahidin Mosque located in the office complex. During the prayer, Chairman of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) of Palu City Zainal Abidin would act as the preacher.

Prior to the meeting, at around 6:15 a.m. WITA, Amin visited one of the local tourism destinations, the Taipa Beach, located at North Palu Sub-district, Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province.

The meeting was part of his agenda amid the two-day working visit to Palu City on January 6-7, 2022.

On Thursday, he also held another meeting with the regional governments to discuss steps to accelerate rehabilitation and reconstruction of public infrastructure in Palu City, Donggala District, and Sigi District.

The regions were severely damaged by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit on September 28, 2018, which triggered a tsunami and soil liquefaction.

The vice president also reviewed the progress in construction of permanent housing for disaster survivors at the Tondo I and Tondo II relocation site on Thursday.
