Samarinda (ANTARA) - Head of East Kalimantan Province's Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Yadi Robyan Noor highlighted that East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports for January-October 2021 reached Rp256 trillion (US$17.9 billion).

"Based on data from the Trade Ministry for the January-October 2021 period, East Kalimantan was ranked as the second-highest non-oil and gas exporter in Indonesia," Noor remarked here on Thursday.

Noor expressed optimism that such good news would boost the enthusiasm of business actors to further drive product exports by broadening the network to overseas.

According to Noor, this success is an achievement for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, especially when the value is compared to the export value of US$9.48 billion last year.

"In 2021, East Kalimantan had recorded an increase in exports of up to 89.14 percent, or the highest nationally; Riau rose to 43.31 percent; West Java, 28.44 percent; and East Java, only 2.85 percent," Noor remarked.

He explained that the province's contribution to national exports was recorded at 10.2 percent, still lower than West Java, which contributed exports valued at up to $27.4 billion, or 15.6 percent of Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports.

East Java emerged as the third-largest export contributor, with an export value of $17.4 billion, or 9.9 percent; followed by Riau that contributed $14.9 billion, or 8.5 percent of the national non-oil and gas exports.

Meanwhile, East Kalimantan's exports in December 2021 emerged as the second-highest nationally at the export release event chaired directly by Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi.

In the meantime, total exports conducted virtually from PT Sumalindo Lestari Jaya (SLJ) areas were recorded at Rp13.5 trillion. Overall, East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports in 2021 had reached Rp270 trillion.

"Non-oil and gas export products from the province include fisheries, bananas, wood, used cooking oil, nipa palm sticks, and coal," Noor remarked.
