Jakarta (ANTARA) - The number of inpatients at Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, Jakarta, declined by six on Monday compared to the previous day, head of information for Joint Regional Defense Command I, Marine Colonel Aris Mudian, said.



"The number of inpatients who are confirmed positive (or have contracted COVID-19) at towers 5 and 6 is 2,535. Meanwhile, the last figure (for the previous day) reached 2,541. The number of inpatients declined by six," he informed while providing a COVID-19 update here on Monday.



Between March 23, 2020, and January 17, 2022, the total number of patients referred to Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital reached 134,236, he said.



Of the 134,236 patients, 130,033 recovered from the virus, while 1,072 patients were referred to other hospitals, he added.

Meanwhile, 596 patients succumbed to COVID-19 as of January 17, 2022, he noted.



He then provided an update on Galang Island's Special Hospital for Infection (RSKI), Batam, Riau Islands.

According to Mudian, the hospital is currently treating 174 COVID-19 patients, comprising 111 men and 63 women.



The figure has dropped by 73 in the 24 hours ended Monday, he added.



"The number of inpatients as of January 17, 2022, is 174 patients. Previously, (one day before) it was 247 patients," he said.



Between April 12, 2020, and January 12, 2022, Galang Island's Special Hospital for Infection has treated 18,330 patients, he added. Of the number, the hospital has discharged 18,155 patients, Mudian said.



The hospital has, so far, recorded one COVID-19-related death, he added.



The first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Indonesia in March 2020. According to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of January 17, 2022, at least 4,272,421 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country, while 4,119,472 people recovered, and 144,174 people succumbed to the virus.
