Purwakarta, West Java (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin inaugurated a medical device factory in Nagrog, Kertamukti village, Campaka sub-district, Purwakarta district on Thursday.

"We are approaching a number of changes globally that have led to the construction of this factory in Indonesia," he said on the sidelines of the inauguration here on Thursday.

President Joko Widodo has given instructions for carrying out a transformation in the health sector, he noted.

"One of them is that we are carrying out a transformation in the health defense system so that if another disaster or pandemic occurs, we will be ready," he said.

According to the Minister of Health, one of the most important aspects of the health system is end-to-end supply, namely local production of medical devices, test kits, and medicines.

The new medical device factory will be managed by PT Standard Biosensor Healthcare, Sadikin said.

PT Standard Biosensor Healthcare manufactures in-vitro diagnostic medical equipment, including PCR diagnostic kits, he added.

In accordance with the OSS (Online Single Submission) system, all licensing mechanisms for the factory have been cleared, starting from obtaining the business identification number in September 2019 to the issuance of the building construction permit on May 5, 2020, he informed.

Meanwhile, Purwakarta district head Anne Ratna Mustika, who attended the inauguration, expressed the hope that the new factory would make it easier for the people of Purwakarta to obtain medical devices without having to import them from abroad.

According to head of the Purwakarta Health Service, Deni Darmawan said, PT Standard Biosensor Healthcare will produce medical devices needed for supporting the acceleration of COVID-19 handling.
