This should also be an option for people with disabilities to receive the appropriate standard through competency certification
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower is promoting full employment access for people with disabilities, Minister Ida Fauziyah said in a written statement issued on Wednesday.

The government has been encouraging vocational training so that people with disabilities have an alternative means to obtain competent certification, she explained.

"This should also be an option for people with disabilities to receive the appropriate standard through competency certification," she said.

Concerning the G20 agenda, the ministry is prioritizing inclusivity in the manpower sector, she highlighted while receiving representatives from the National Commission on Disabilities (KDN).

The development of inclusive manpower should be a concern for advanced nations and developing nations, she added.

"We want to become a benchmark for other nations in that the issue of inclusivity for people with disabilities is a priority issue. We believe that this will be expedited if we bring it up during the G20 meetings," Fauziyah remarked.

The minister said that her ministry is currently disseminating the acceleration of Manpower Disability Service Units (ULDs) in all provinces, with a focus on regional governments.

"This is what we should build the attention to from the regional governments, not just the ULD program, but also other manpower programs supported by the central government," she said.

Meanwhile, chief of the National Commission on Disabilities (KDN), Dante Rigmalia, said that the biggest challenge that KDN is encountering is building communication between the central and regional governments.

"This communication should still be within KDN's line of work as a monitoring institution from the central and regional government in respecting, protecting, and fulfilling the rights of people with disabilities," he remarked.
