"This activity of vaccinating teachers and education personnel can support the implementation of face-to-face learning, which is currently being conducted in phases, geared towards full capacity," Heroe Poerwadi, the deputy mayor of Yogyakarta, stated in Yogyakarta on Thursday.
The booster vaccination program for teachers and education personnel in Yogyakarta was held simultaneously, with booster vaccination for Yogyakarta's state civil servants.
All of them took place at the XT-Square vaccination center that caters to around two thousand people daily. All teachers and state civil servants are expected to receive their booster vaccination on Monday, January 31.
The vaccine administered was a half dose of Pfizer. To date, no reports have been received of adverse effects following immunization (AEFI).
"Vaccination activities are indeed conducted simultaneously with ASN, as they are also public servants, who often meet with several people, so they need to be prioritized as booster recipients," Poerwadi explained.
Moreover, Yogyakarta is pursuing the completion of vaccinations for children aged 6-11 years as a means to support the face-to-face learning policy.

Currently, around 35 thousand children aged 6-11 years in Yogyakarta have been vaccinated. This number has exceeded the target set by the Health Ministry, which stipulated 29 thousand children.
However, Yogyakarta has targeted to vaccinate some 41 thousand children in accordance with the number of students aged 6-11 years attending schools, he highlighted.
Yogyakarta issued COVID-19 tests for students to go hand-in-hand with the face-to-face learning policy. Out of the one thousand samples, two had tested positive for COVID-19.
"We have traced the close contacts, and all were negative or there was no transmission. Just one class and not the entire school's operations were ceased," he remarked.
