This cooperation agreement aims to support national research and innovation in an effort to improve the capacity of human resources
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency's (BRIN's) Science and Technology Human Resource (SDMI) Deputy supports national research and innovation activities under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM or Freedom in Learning and Campus) program.

This agreement was marked by the inking of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement by SDMI Acting Deputy Edy Giri Rachman Putra with Al-Azhar Indonesia University's Rector Asep Saefuddin.

"This cooperation agreement aims to support national research and innovation in an effort to improve the capacity of human resources," Putra noted in a written statement on Monday.

Moreover, this support aims to strengthen implementation of the universities' Tri Dharma, or Three Obligations, comprising Education and Teaching; Research and Development; and Devotion to the People.

This cooperation encompasses research, development, study, implementation, invention, innovation, devotion to the people, research and innovation utilization, as well as collective usage of facilities and infrastructure.

Putra noted that it is time for all parties to collectively develop research and innovation in Indonesia.

"We could do it by restarting learning activities, not just on scientific skill problems but also pertaining to social science, culture, and others, right from nuclear to space," he remarked.

Various parties should remind one another, utilize, and build innovations in Indonesia, he affirmed.

"Globally, our innovations are still lacking, even in the ASEAN. We expect that this cooperation would expedite this, such as through modality sharing," he explained.

Putra expects the cooperation to be beneficial and aid universities in applying the Tri Dharma.

Meanwhile, Al-Azhar Indonesia University Rector Asep Saefuddin remarked that the MBKM program had entered its second period ever since it was initiated in 2020.

"Through this cooperation, Al-Azhar University expects that in future, researchers in BRIN would become lecturers or teach at the university," he remarked.
