According to him, the two climbers started their ascent from Mekarjaya village, Arjasari sub-district. Their initial plan was to return home the same day and not set up camp, he added.
However, after arriving at the top of the mountain, the two climbers were said to have met a group of six people and decided to camp with them, he informed.
"The group had climbed to the top since Saturday (January 29). They decided to camp together and descended on Monday (January 31)," he said.
The two missing climbers reportedly went down first and planned to wait for the group at a pre-decided point, he added.

"However, the group did not find the two survivors at the point. They then searched for the two survivors for around three hours," he said.
The group suspected that the two climbers went missing since the motorbike belonging to one of them was still parked at the Mekarjaya Village Office, he added.

"According to the victims' family, the two survivors did not bring a complete survival kit because their original plan was not to camp," he said.
