Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - State toll road firm PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (JBT) will construct solar power panels along the Bali Mandara Toll Road before the G20 Summit.

JBT, which manages the Bali Mandara Toll Road in Bali Island, has signed a cooperation agreement or memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the installation of solar power panels with PT Bukit Energi Investama (PT BEI) in Badung District, Bali, on Thursday.

"This signing is a follow-up of the earlier inked head of agreement (HoA). After the data exchange and study, it was agreed that solar panels will be installed along the motorcycle lane," PT JBT Manager of Operation and Maintenance, I Putu Gandi Ginantra, remarked.

Under the MoU, PT BEI will install a set of solar panels, with a total capacity of 400 kWp. The electricity generated will be used to support PT JBT's operational activities.

"The solar power plants also complement our readiness in terms of the infrastructure, as Bali Province hosts the 2022 Indonesian G20 Presidency," Ginantra remarked.

According to Ginantra, the construction of solar power plants on the Bali Mandara Toll Road
will commence in March and is expected to be completed in early July 2022.

Furthermore, the solar panels will be arranged akin to a canopy at six points. Each point will have a length of about one km, which means solar panel canopies will be installed along the sides of motorcycle lanes spanning six kilometers.

"Their positions are near the three toll gates. Hence, the solar panels will be on the right or left sides of the motorcycle lane," Ginantra explained.

In addition, the solar power plant installations are a form of collaboration and synergy among State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) in supporting the 2022 Indonesian G20 Presidency, with focus on the issue of reducing global carbon emissions.
