NIDI is a requirement for SLO issuance, which guarantees that each electric power installation built is completely safe
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The electrical power installation identity number (NIDI) is a key requirement for the issuance of certificates of operation safety (SLO), according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"NIDI is a requirement for SLO issuance, which guarantees that each electric power installation built is completely safe," the ministry's head of communication, public information service, and cooperation bureau, Agung Pribadi, explained here on Thursday.

The Directorate General of Electricity at the ministry issues NIDIs for electrical power installations that have been completely built by licensed electric power suppliers (IUJPTL), he said.

The identity number contains information on the location, installation completion date, the business entity that performed the installation, specifications of components, and electrical installation images, he pointed out.

"The requirement to have NIDI is to maintain the safety of electrical (power installation) because its issuance needs a report from the business entities who hold IUJPTL," Pribadi explained.

Furthermore, NIDI is useful to ensure the fulfillment of safety in electrical installations, as a solution for IUJPTL holders, to widen business opportunities, and to strengthen human resources data in the field of electricity, he added.

Therefore, NIDI can also help the public get secured electric power, in addition to helping the government's efforts to supervise business licenses, Pribadi said.

Moreover, the government has guaranteed there would be no charge for the issuance of NIDI, although some IUJPTL holders may charge fees for installation, supervision, identification, field verification, and evaluation, he added.

"In its implementation, NIDI registration is free of charge, but some often say there is a cost for NIDI. However, the tariff is for construction and installation, or supervision by licensed installers," he clarified.
