Hence, we no longer need to seek (health) treatment at Singapore or Penang (Malaysia)
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government invited citizens to offer their inputs in the revision of Law No. 29 of 2007 on Jakarta as Indonesia's capital after it will no longer hold the status.

"We are preparing and inviting experts to offer inputs and contributions, and anyone outside Jakarta can also give their recommendations," Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated at the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Assembly Building on Monday.

After the State Capital (IKN) Law was approved to be ratified during the plenary meeting of the House of Representatives on January 18, 2022, the Ministry of Home Affairs urged the Jakarta provincial government to draft a revision of Law No. 29 of 2007 related to Jakarta as a special region, according to Patria.

Patria said that his team is open to any suggestions and thoughts in the process of preparing regulations after Jakarta is no longer a state capital.

"We are very happy to synergize and collaborate in drafting the (revision of the law)," Patria added.

He expressed optimism that after Jakarta no longer holds the capital city status, it would become a center of business, finance, trade, as well as a global and regional service center.

Moreover, he pointed out that Jakarta can become a center of education and health.

"Hence, we no longer need to seek (health) treatment at Singapore or Penang (Malaysia). Our hope is that Jakarta will have international-level hospital facilities in the future," he affirmed.

The Jakarta provincial government is also drafting a Regional Development Plan for 2023-2026 with the target of being a global economic and business center after releasing its capital status, Economic Affairs and Finance Assistant Sri Haryati had stated earlier.

The Regional Development Plan will respond to the requirements for Jakarta to compete with other global cities in terms of the government, human resources, infrastructure, and resource management to fund development and bolster the economy.
