We want to nurture their sense of belonging to and pride in their own hometown...Jakarta (ANTARA) - At least 338 local racing marshals have been selected for the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), from February 11–13, 2022, an official said.
Currently, the marshals are undergoing intensive training, which has been organized by the state-run Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and its subsidiary, Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), president director of MGPA, Priandhi Satria, said in an official statement released on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) has provided the training instructions, he added.
"The provision of quality marshals is important in organizing a racing event. Hence, by collaborating with IMI and the NTB provincial government, we are providing a series of training to improve the capabilities of the recruited marshals," he informed.
At least 198 of the marshals earlier served at the 2021 Mandalika World Superbike (WSBK), he said.

Meanwhile, 69 are new recruits, 51 have been assigned from the police’s Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), and 20 are National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) personnel, he disclosed.
Most of the marshals reside near the circuit and were recruited by the NTB automotive community and the Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) of Pujut sub-district, Central Lombok district, he said.
The marshals from Brimob and Basarnas will serve as radiomen, he added.
"The marshals will work as volunteers. We want to nurture their sense of belonging to and pride in their own hometown by giving them a big role in the international racing event," the president director said.
On February 5, 2022, the marshals took part in in-class training, he added. Furthermore, they participated in field practice and were assigned posts on February 6, 2022, he continued.
On February 10, 2022, they will undergo a MotoGP racing simulation, he said.

Meanwhile, new marshals from Brimob and Karang Taruna will receive additional training on February 7, 2022, he said.
One of the marshals, Ki Agus, said that he was interested in automotives, hence he signed up for the event.
"In addition, I want to make our district proud by becoming a volunteer marshal at the circuit," he remarked.
The marshals will also serve at the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP on March 18–20, 2022, he said.
The ITDC has opened the recruitment of an additional 100 marshals, thus there will be more than 400 marshals at the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, he added.
