The president noted that in the last two years, the press industry has been deemed to be under pressure due to digital disruption. Challenges also came from foreign giant media platforms that took away the economic potentials and influence of the national mainstream media.

On account of competition among media outlets, various problems surfaced, such as alternative information sources that are likely causal to confusion and disinformation in society.

"The trend of getting more clicks and views, aiming for viral content, triggering conflicts and massive misleading information cause confusion and also separation," the president pointed out.
