Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, at an event streamed on YouTube on Wednesday evening, echoed Indonesia's readiness in bringing about transformation in domestic health services to the G20 forum.

"Indonesia has agreed that we will conduct six types of transformations in the health sector," he noted during the virtual inception conference titled "Realizing Inclusive Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic."

The first transformation targets primary services by bolstering the service capacity in all health facilities that comprise edifying people about healthy living and primary prevention through routine immunization.

In addition, the other transformation is secondary prevention through increasing deadly disease screening and improving the quality of secondary and tertiary services.

Transformation with regard to referral service is also being prioritized.

Despite Indonesia having sufficient doctors for treating certain diseases, it currently encounters a hurdle in the form of limited health service facilities, the minister noted.

"We do not have sufficient hospitals. When someone contracts a critical disease, such as stroke or heart disease, we do not have adequate hospitals to treat them," he elaborated.

The next transformation targets the health resiliency system to ensure that the public receives therapeutic diagnosis and to build a domestic surveillance system network to quickly identify the plague potential in Indonesia, Sadikin noted.

The other form of transformation pertains to reformation in the health service financing system.

"We truly believe that adequate, sustainable financing is necessary in addition to fair, efficient, and effective allocation," he stated.

One type of transformation involves fulfilling the need for human resources in the field of health care.

"We will reform the medical hospital education faculty to expedite health professionals' graduation and place them in hospitals and health facility centers," the minister explained.

The last transformation involves fulfilling digital- and biotechnology-based health technologies.

"I truly believe in Internet of Things and big data. Artificial intelligence will transform drastically, and health treatment system's delivery as well as diagnostics can be conducted digitally," he remarked.

Meanwhile, with regard to the biotechnology program, Indonesia is blessed with natural richness in the form of biological and genomic diversity, he highlighted.

"I believe that this can be utilized for the future through the more frequent use of biotechnology," he stated.
