We can pass on a much better global health system to the future generation.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia pushes three main programs during the discussion on global health architecture reformation through the G20 forum, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated at an event streamed on YouTube on Wednesday evening.

"President Joko Widodo wishes for reformation in the global health architecture, so that we could inherit it," Sadikin noted during the virtual inception conference event titled "Realizing Inclusive Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic."

"We can pass on a much better global health system to the future generation," he affirmed.

For the first program, Indonesia will encourage nations worldwide to build a global health system, especially in global mobilization and monitoring, through genomic data information sharing.

According to Sadikin, handling the threat to global health in future necessitates enhancing the genomic information platform.

"We have to bolster our capacity to prevent, detect, and effectively respond to the pandemic in a very coordinated manner," the minister emphasized.

Under the second program, Indonesia, along with the G20 forum, should have a more responsive global health architecture with a response speed that surpasses the earlier standard.

"It is very important to ensure comprehensive health protocols of global standards. Our current pandemic situation has confused us," he stated.

The minister acknowledged the need for innovative solutions to problems encountered in the modern age.

"Together, we will harmonize with the global health standard," he remarked.

This global health standard encompasses international travel standard through digital application acknowledged by cross-country citizens that could facilitate faster socio-economic recovery.

The third program revolves around equalizing and expanding the global resource and manufacture center for genome response and readiness.

"The G20 can expand and equally re-distribute the global manufacturing and resource center for primary prevention, readiness, and genome response," Sadikin explained.

The minister invited G20 nations to expand the global health manufacturing capacity, such as therapeutic handling, diagnostics, and personal protection equipment.

"Important mitigation supply chain will strengthen the global health system," he stated.

Moreover, the world requires global investment to minimize the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic in future.

"When COVID-19 is exploiting our weakness and triggering disunity, we should look past our differences, band together as a global community, and build system and capacity," he remarked.

"We will need a political, financial, and social commitment that could sustain us for years," he affirmed.
