According to Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugiarto, the daily data on COVID-19 cases showed that some 240 out of over 500 people, who had contracted COVID-19, comprised teachers, educational staff, and students.
"We have no plans to implement (face-to-face learning) yet again," he noted in Bogor City on Saturday.
Sugiarto pointed out that since early January of 2022, the number of individuals, registered as members of education institutions, that were infected with the virus had increased, from tens to several hundred people.
The Bogor Health Office continues to monitor the trend of COVID-19 transmission, including cases that took place at schools.

On Friday, February 11, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Bogor had increased by 621, more than the number of cases on the day before, recorded at 611.
Data from the Bogor Health Office detailed that on Wednesday, February 9, as many as 283 of the total 801 beds in COVID-19 isolation centers were occupied.
COVID-19 patients undergoing quarantine comprised 156 Bogor city residents, 81 Bogor District residents, and 46 residents from other areas. Of late, Indonesia has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases due to the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
While several studies proved that Omicron is not as dangerous as the Delta variant, it has a significantly faster rate of transmission. This has led to the Omicron strain triggering a spike in cases in a short period of time, thereby causing an increase in the hospitalization rate as well as forcing schools to close in order to limit the spread of the virus.
The Health Ministry has forecast that a peak in the number of Omicron cases would be three to six folds higher than the peak of the Delta variant.
With cases continuing to increase, the government has been pushing to accelerate vaccinations. It has already rolled out booster vaccines for people that have completed the first two doses to suppress the transmission of COVID-19.
According to officials, most of the people that had succumbed to Omicron so far were unvaccinated.
