"If their cars are halted by a police officer, (they can) just show them the papers (to clarify their status as health workers)," director of traffic of the Greater Jakarta Police, Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, said on Tuesday.
The adjustment to the odd-even traffic rule will apply from Wednesday (February 16, 2022) and will continue until further notice, he informed.
The decision to provide leeway to health workers in Jakarta was taken to assist those who are working to handle the surge in Omicron cases in the capital city, the director said.
"Because the Omicron variant cases are still high, we have decided to exempt health workers from the traffic rule," Yogo said.
The traffic director informed that if health workers receive a traffic ticket for violating the odd-even traffic rule, based on surveillance camera recordings, they just need to produce their identity documents to get the ticket canceled.
"They can just show their ID cards clarifying their status as health workers (when appealing against the traffic ticket)," Yogo said.

At present, the odd-even traffic rule is being enforced on 13 major roads from Mondays to Fridays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time (UTC +7) in the mornings and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the evenings. The rule is not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.
The 13 major roads in the province where the odd-even traffic rule has been enforced include Thamrin Road, Sudirman Road, Gunung Sahari Road in Central Jakarta; and Tomang Raya Road and S. Parman Road in West Jakarta.
Major roads in East Jakarta where the odd-even traffic rule has been implemented are DI Pandjaitan Road and Ahmad Yani Road from Bekasi Timur Raya road until Perintis Kemerdekaan Road.
The odd-even rule has also been applied on South Jakarta's Rasuna Said Road, Sisingamangaraja Road, Panglima Polim Road, Gatot Soebroto Road, MT Haryono Road, Fatmawati Road, and Ketimun 1 Road until Simatupang Road.
