KSP Main Expert Abraham Wirotomo noted in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday that the bed occupancy ratio in hospitals nationally was still at around 30 percent.
With these recent developments, especially referring to the BOR, Abraham concluded that the national COVID-19 pandemic situation was still under control.
"All these figures show that the situation is still more under control as compared to when we faced the Delta variant of the Corona virus during which the bed occupancy ratio in hospitals had reached 90 percent. However, we have to remain vigilant," Wirotomo remarked.
The KSP main expert also drew attention to the bed occupancy ratio in hospitals in five provinces: DKI Jakarta, at 54 percent; Bali, 48 percent; Banten, 45 percent; West Java, 44 percent; and South Sumatra, 30 percent.
Wirotomo elaborated that nearly 65 percent of the patients were those with no symptoms or experiencing mild symptoms.
"Once again we appeal to hospitals and the community, let us prioritize those in need, so that we can get through this pandemic well," Wirotomo emphasized.
He also stressed that government policies in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic were always based on a scientific approach and not momentary emotions or political considerations.
"The government always involves experts across fields and uses various data in evaluating the pandemic," he stated.
"This includes the policy of limiting community activities that still refers to the community activity restrictions (PPKM) level of each region according to the COVID-19 risk assessment of each region," he affirmed.
Indonesia recorded the addition of 57,049 daily COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, crossing the 2021 national peak of 56,757 daily cases, according to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.
Most of the new infections reported on Tuesday (Feb 15) were contributed by West Java, reaching 14,058; followed by 9,482 in Jakarta; 7,528 in East Java; 6,509 in Banten; 3,514 in Central Java; and 1,862 in Bali.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries increased by 26,747, with Jakarta reporting the highest recoveries, at 9,103, followed by 5,739 in West Java, 3,618 in East Java, 3,350 in Banten, 1,785 in Bali, and 1,207 in Central Java.
Meanwhile, deaths due to COVID-19 increased by 134 nationally as of Tuesday, with Jakarta reporting 50 deaths, 21 in Central Java, 15 in East Java, and 14 in Bali.
With Tuesday's addition to the national count of daily cases, the total COVID-19 case count stood at 4,901,328. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries totaled 4,349,848, while the total deaths stood at 145,455.
Furthermore, the number of active cases increased by 30,168 to reach 406,025, while 35,594 suspected cases were identified, and 582,828 specimens examined on Tuesday.
Taking note of the case surge, the COVID-19 Task Force urged the public to remain disciplined in following health protocols, including by wearing masks, washing hands with soap and water, maintaining physical distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
