"The agenda, starting from the first until the fourth event, is expected to produce points that always provide regulations on women's empowerment," she noted.
W20 is one of the G20 engagement groups, with focus on discussing women's empowerment, she explained.
The W20 held in Likupang is the first of the entire gamut of side events.
"There are four events in Likupang, Batu, Banjarmasin, and Papua. Meanwhile, the W20 Summit will be held in Lake Toba," she elaborated.
These four series of events are expected to become the W20 declaration that will be brought to the G20 meeting.
Likupang was selected to support the government's order to choose Indonesia's super priority tourism destinations, Silalahi added.
"The expectation is to choose tourism locations apart from Bali. The first one is held in Likupang, and the last one will be held in Lake Toba," she remarked.
Four topics will be discussed at the W20 agenda in Likupang.
The first topic concerns enhancing equality and countering discrimination for which discussions have been conducted each year and are still underway.
The second pertains to ways to drive women to become the centers of economic recovery, especially by helping them to own Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The third prioritizes marginalized women in villages, remote areas usually left behind by other women in cities, and marginalized women with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the fourth women's issue revolves around the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically women's health access.
North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey opined that the W20 will offer the necessary momentum to push for equality, safety, and prosperity by eliminating discrimination against women.
