Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency predicted that the South Sumatra region experienced a cloudy weather and rain with moderate to heavy intensity on Sunday.

According to the agency's press release received on Sunday, the weather was forecast to be cloudy in the morning, and moderate to heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.

Some areas that would be cloudy were in such districts as Muara Enim, Ogan Komering Ulu, South Ogan Komering Ulu, Lahat, Pagaralam and Empat Lawang. On the other hand, risk of light rain looms the Musi Rawas, North Musi Rawas, Lubuk Linggau, and Musi Banyuasin.

The weather was predicted to be cloudy or rainy moderately in the evening for Ogan Komering Ulu, East Ogan Komering Ulu, South Ogan Komering Ulu, Muara Enim, Palembang, Ogan Komering Ilir, Ogan Ilir, Banyuasin, Musi Banyuasin, Musi Rawas, and Musi Rawas Utara.

Among the areas with the potential for light rain were Prabumulih, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, Pagaralam, and Empat Lawang.

In the morning, the weather was predicted to be cloudy and foggy, with the risk of light rain in the Musi Banyuasin, Banyuasin and Ogan Komering Ilir areas.

The air temperature in the lowlands of South Sumatra around Palembang, Banyuasin, Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Ogan Komering Ilir ranges from 23 to 33 degrees Celsius, with an air humidity of 60 percent to 98 percent.

The air temperature in the highlands of South Sumatra around Pagar Alam, Empat Lawang, Lubuk Linggau, Lahat and South Ogan Komering Ulu ranges from 19 to 32 degrees Celsius, with an air humidity of 65 percent - 100 percent.

Wind blows from Southwest – North would commence at a speed of 5 to 30 km/hour.

The sea waves in the Gelasa Strait, the northern part of the Bangka Strait and the southern part of the Bangka Strait would be 0.1 to 0.5 meters high, and light rain was to be expected. The wind direction was from West to North at a speed of 5 to 30 km/hour.

The agency issued an early warning of the risk for moderate to heavy rains on some districts' areas which could come along with lightning and strong winds of short duration from noon to afternoon.

The regions were Muara Enim, Ogan Komering Ulu, South Ogan Komering Ulu, Lahat, Pagaralam and Empat Lawang while those experiencing the moderate to heavy rains were the districts of Ogan Komering Ulu, East Ogan Komering Ulu, South Ogan Komering Ulu, Muara Enim, Palembang, Ogan Komering Ilir, Ogan Ilir, Banyuasin, Musi Banyuasin, Musi Rawas and North Musi Rawas.
