Jakarta (ANTARA) - Red Cross Indonesia has distributed micronutrient supplements for children in Pulogebang Village, Cakung, East Jakarta, and collaborated with health officials to monitor toddlers' weight to support the East Jakarta city government’s nutritional program for children.

Head of East Jakarta Red Cross, H. R. Krisdianto, conveyed the information on Monday.

"We are very happy to see the results of this program since it kicked off in October 2021. The parents involved (in the program) stated that they had experienced the benefits of micronutrients, and their children showed an improvement in their diet, some even experienced weight gain," he informed.

At least 60 thousand boxes of micronutrient supplements were distributed for toddlers in East Jakarta under the initiative, he said.

A private company assisted in the distribution process, he added.

The activity was also supported by cadres of family prosperity and empowerment groups (PKK) and integrated health posts from the RW, village, and sub-district levels.

East Jakarta Red Cross also disseminated information about children's nutritional intake and offered counseling to cadres, anthropometric monitoring for toddlers, and provided additional food for children in the area, Krisdianto said.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Amway Indonesia Leo Boon Wang said that the activity was very important for children and toddlers in the East Jakarta area.

"We are grateful to have met the East Jakarta Red Cross, which has a strong commitment to supporting the programs of the East Jakarta city government on pushing awareness about improving children and toddlers' nutrition," Wang remarked.
