The state capital Nusantara will use the Smart City System and is expected to become a reference for other cities.
"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is making preparations for the construction of a National Database Center (PDN) as an infrastructure that will encourage the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) services in the IKN. PDN will be located in four cities in Indonesia, including IKN," spokesperson of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Dedy Permadi noted on Monday.
Furthermore, the SPBE is contained in Presidential Regulation Number 95 of 2018, with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics acting as the leader in implementing technology in the government.
The SPBE, in its regulation, is intended to accelerate services in the government to become more effective, transparent, and safer than the earlier methods.
Permadi stated that the government had, in fact, started to implement SPBE in ministries and government agencies, both at the national and regional level, but the existing SPBE does not seem to be fully integrated.
Reflecting on this fact, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, in charge of technology in the structure of the Central Government, encourages the presence of the PDN, he added.
Meanwhile, in 2022, the government had planned to begin the construction of PDN in the third or fourth quarter at four locations: IKN Nusantara, Batam in Riau Islands, Bekasi in West Java, and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The PDN prepared by the ministry is planned to start operating in 2023.
In addition to an integrated data system for the government at both the national and regional levels, the presence of the PDN will also help more cities in Indonesia to become smart cities coupled with the government's efforts to present a 4G network in the outermost, remote, and underdeveloped (3T) regions and to increase 5G network coverage, Permadi noted.
