"Several meetings of G20 will be held in Solo, especially one of the working groups under the G20 Presidency, G20 TIIWG," Director General of International Trade Negotiations Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono remarked in Solo on Friday.
According to Witjaksono, TIIWG is led by the Trade Ministry, Investment Ministry or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and Industry Ministry.
"The meetings will (involve) senior officials or Echelon-1 of each of the G20 member countries. Solo itself will host two meetings on March 29-31, 2022, and the second meeting on June 6-9, 2022," he pointed out.
Witjaksono remarked that the reason for Solo City being selected as one of the G20 event locations was since it was considered to be quite economically "representative."
"Solo City focuses on economy and G20 meetings initially focused on economic affairs too," Witjaksono pointed out.

Moreover, he drew attention to some of the conditions that must be met by the G20 host, including the availability of accommodations, event and health facilities, and transportation.
He also expected that by hosting one of the G20 working group's meetings, Solo can become more attractive for investors.
"Although this is a government delegation, the issues that will be discussed are trade, investment, and industry. We will also visit several places, and hopefully, we would witness the economic potential," he elaborated.
On the same occasion, Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka revealed a city tour will be offered for the G20 delegates coming to the city.
Some endeavors in media promotion will be bolstered in one month, he stated.
"As the delegates cannot exit the hotel (due to the G20 bubble system health protocol), we will prepare and bring some micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the hotel," Raka explained.
